Well that's what it feels like at least! I was so consumed with Brody's surgery/healing, cleaning, Thanksgiving preps/food and having Michael home/decorating the house that I just plain let last week get away from me! I really hate that too.
So then on top of all that yummy food I was eating....I also took a week off from my elliptical.....oh yeah....not good ;) Gonna feel the burn today...ha!
I got to see my Kimberly :) I took the night off from "worrying about Brody" duty and went up to Frankie's in Richardson for some yummy Mexican food and good times with my 3 favorite girls, Mom, Connie & Kimberly who was in for the week from Connecticut. The Mexican food place was amazing...really enjoyed it and seeing Kimberly made it even better!
B-man is doing AWESOME....but let me backtrack 1st...because this has been a ROUGH 2 weeks. This is a serious NO JOKE surgery...it's a mean one I tell ya! By day 7, which fell on Thanksgiving, I wasn't sure if I was going to have to take him to the ER. He wasn't talking, eating and barely drinking. VERY lethargic and emotional. The medicine (the narcotic) just made him weird and caused a lot of different outbursts over nothing. He was in a ton of pain and a lot of "referred" pain and he just looked like a zombie...it was horrible. Friday was a step above that but not by much and thankfully by Saturday/Sunday....he was back to rock star status! Now...he's pretty much eating us out of house and home ;) Must be catching up for the week!
Thank you sweet baby Jesus that that is OVER! Oh my gosh!
That was hard for me to watch and not be able to fix....but thank goodness...it's over!
Thanksgiving was perfect. We were missing a lot of family this year, which is never bueno, but we had my Uncle Stephen and his girlfriend Traci with us. Without having a large group there, we were able to get to know Traci even better :) I loved her and hope to get to know her better!
We had all the favorites - Nanny's stuffing, green bean casserole and the fabulous turkey and even added some new recipes. I've mentioned before how much I love to eat....so you KNOW I love me some Thanksgiving ;)
We stayed the night at Mom's on Thanksgiving and got up early the next day for "Operation Decorate Mom's House". All of her Christmas stuff is up in the attic, so Michael and I always get up there and get stuff down. We reorganized the attic in the process. We helped her get her tree up, test all the lights and get them on, we decorated the outside and got her aluminum tree up in the foyer. It was a full day!
Before we started all that, we went to get Bubby some donut holes. We went to her Wal-Mart for chocolate milk 1st and came out with a full cart $100 later ;) We got a stinkin printer/copier/scanner for $20...$20!!!! It's awesome too...very fast. Woo hoo! That Wal-Mart by the way...at 8:00 on Black Friday was a GHOST town. What was that all about?!
We've decorated our front yard, we spent some more time at Mom's over the weekend and had a great service on Sunday morning. I pulled from our "pantry tree" and our "angel tree" so I have some stuff to get tomorrow at the store. My sweet angel...she's 16 and all she asked for was a Pen & Pencil set. :( SWEET GIRL...I will get the best art set possible for such a sweet and simple request.
Every week at church, my eyes are opened a little wider. Yesterday was no different. SO...in the spirit of the season BUT ALSO in the spirit of thankfulness...I am going to start blogging daily 1 good thing that's happened in our lives throughout the day.
1 Samuel 2:1-2
1 Then Hannah prayed:
I know it's only noon on my 1st day to do this...but I think it's fitting I start with this:
Brody went to the fireplace to our Christmas book bin and brought me 2. He curled up in my lap and allowed me to read him 2 books without getting distracted or being silly. He listened to the stories, he lifted all the fun pop ups and when I was finished, he turned around and squeezed my neck and said, "love you Momma".
Today, I'm thankful for such a sweet boy with such a sweet spirit. I'm thankful that he made it through these rough 2 weeks and is back to his old self...I really missed him! ;) I'm infinitely thankful that the Lord chose me to be his Momma :)
Psalm 136
23 He remembered us in our weakness.
His faithful love endures forever.
24 He saved us from our enemies.
His faithful love endures forever.
25 He gives food to every living thing.
His faithful love endures forever.
26 Give thanks to the God of heaven.
His faithful love endures forever.

“My heart rejoices in the Lord!
The Lord has made me strong.
Now I have an answer for my enemies;
I rejoice because you rescued me.
2 No one is holy like the Lord!
There is no one besides you;
there is no Rock like our God.
