Catch Up Time Again

...so here I am. Kinda my 1st morning / afternoon / day of peace and quiet in a long time.

I'm good with go go go.....and then I'm not. Then I hit an emotional slide out of nowhere and realize I have to slow down....time to take a breath.

We have stayed rather busy in the Doggett house. Michael is up to his eyeballs with work. He brings work home almost every day now...I say being busy at work is a good thing! He's wonderful though. I adore him :)

The kids...well...we are VERY mature and very big kids now. Did you know that Kindergarten does that? They literally change overnight right before your very eyes. It's happened already...it keeps happening more every day. Gone are the days of my sweet "babies" and now are the days of these AMAZING "kids". Raina is constantly blowing me away...she is SO smart and has such a sweet tender spirit. Brody has finally found his voice. That can be good and bad ;) but mostly good. He is doing things in school that I'm finally getting to see who BRODY is and I tell you what...his future....is SO bright :)

They're so stinkin' awesome. Best thing I've ever done.

I had my hysterectomy with no intention of ever having another....and now...well it's too late - ha! ;) I do love to hold me some sweet babies though. So if you've got one...they're temporarily Miss Jayme's if we're around each other :) I get my baby fix and you get a break...it's a win / win. Ha! I think it's just all this growing up going on around here. Makes me miss the baby times. Thank goodness I have enough friends having little ones.

I'm doing GOOD! I am LOVING my new job at the church. I feel like life has slowed down and I'm able to really jump in to my knees and learn and grow and fall in love with my church, my preschoolers, my parents of preschoolers...ha! I'm still teaching Tuesday's and Thursday's at Sonshine and that has also been amazing. I learn more from them then they do from me :)

The events I was working on the weekends have slowed because of the holiday season. The twin sale doesn't start up for another month or so (planning phase) so I'm just enjoying my Christmas season and enjoying my job and enjoying my sweet family who has been SO supportive of all the changes.

I will say though....I've had to "deal". In this short time since coming on staff, I've had an enormous opportunity to be around some AWESOME Christian women. I've had a lot of love and support and prayers from our family and our church body and I had an opening in my heart...and it came out of nowhere. That can be very good....and it can be things that in the busyness of life (that I'm SO very good at) that have been neglected...not dealt with.

It's all good. It's things that I've pushed down for years...just because...it's easier to push and ignore than to expose and to feel. But it's good to feel. It's GOOD to get it out and let it go. It's amazing that God has put me in this special position with all the special women surrounding me and said...ok...it's time...let's do this...I got you and you got support! Awesome!

Last week I felt very exposed and raw...as the week has gone on I have felt God's bandages of healing. "O Lord my God, I cried to you for help, and you have healed me." Psalm 30:2

I'm currently in prayer for a mentor. As church staff we are asked to find one. I have REALLY been in prayer about this. So if you're reading this and have read this far...please be in prayer with me also. I have no idea who this will be, but the Lord does, so I need this to be directly by his plan. And I'm SO loud and the Lord is so quiet...my prayers are that I hear Him on this.

We are in the throws of Christmas and what it will look like to us this year. We have most of the kids stuff bought. .... gotta wrap :/ Mr. Brody is VERY into Star Wars now so the boy has been hooked up! Raina is hard to buy for. I'm not in to some of the stuff they have out right now for her age group...so...I decided this year to introduce my sweet girl into the world of crafts. I got her all sorts of "kits" this year that will teach her how to crotchet, her first sewing kit, he first quilt, etc. It's not commercial shiny glittery stuff...but it's stuff I loved as a girl and skills to give her and show her the love that I had from my Granny, Nanny and Mom.

I have some of Michael's bought. But he actually has to be with me for 1...ha...takes the fun out of it but he's wanting new shoes and he's SO particular that the HAS to try them on. I have asked for a new Bible this year since mine decided to pretty much fall apart in the middle of church. Made me so sad! I've carried this Bible since High School! This Bible has gotten through some "stuff" y'all :)

So we're trying to figure out location and food. Our Buddy the Elf has moved every night (well only the nights they were good that day) and our beautiful Christmas tree is lit. Michael and the kids worked on the outside this past weekend and now it feels like Christmas. When the lights on the house go up...I'm good ;)

Goals for 2020

So after thinking through this for a while, I've decided to bring this back into my life.  I love to write, I love to express myself and share recipes.  SO...this blog may not always look pretty...it might get messy, because that's life, and I'm too old to pretend it's not.   Goals for 2020: To continue to search for what feeds my soul and not harms it. I'm going to keep up with my health goals and make it another year of weight maintenance.  Walking starts again.  Not about needing to lose, I like everything a bit tighter.  So there you go.  I'm not athletic, I do not LIKE working out.  But I do like walking because of the moment to take a breath and enjoy being outside and listening to good music 💓 I wanted to commit to living my truth...if I say be kind...that means I have to drop some guards and also do just that.  There's been a couple relationships over the years that I wanted to circle back to this year.  Both hav...

Award Winning Salsa

Well…it won an award in my family 🤣 This blog has seen MANY salsa recipes. I LOVE salsa. I’m always trying to perfect my recipe so I tried some different things yesterday and BAM….I mean wowza BAM!!!! Jayme’s Award Winning 😉 Salsa 2lbs Tomatillo, husked and washed and halved 2 Jalapeño, washed, halved, seeded if you’re a wuss.  1 Serrano, washed, remove stem 1 red onion, quartered 1 Lg Tomato 1 Bunch Cilantro 2 Tbs minced garlic  Salt  On a large baking sheet lay out your tomatillos, peppers and onion. Cover the bottom of the pan Chicken stock or water. I also drizzled a little olive oil.  Put in a 350 oven for 75-90 minutes.  Let cool down a bit and throw everything in a food processor.  Holy. Moly. Very restaurant like. Maybe a Cantina Laredo or Haciendas Ranch feel to it. So. Good.  I like it warm so when I go to get it out of the fridge, I just throw in the microwave for a sec.  SO good!

Perpetual diets and a soul change....

I feel like all my life, I've been on a perpetual diet.  Seriously.  Pretty much every day of my life has been a choice.  Some days/months/years I do great.  Others....not so much. I've never been one of those girls.  You know...the ones that always just pulled it off.  Looks, weight, clothes.  Nope.  That is not me.  I've also always had skinny friends.  They ate the same things as me...but I'd notice on me and never on them.  I think I've always aspired in some way to be each of them.  Hell, maybe they keep me in check so I don't ever let myself go to much?  That's some deep thinking stuff! What a funny life.  Then, I had my jaw surgery.  Long recovery.  Long, hard, painful recovery.  I think I just gave myself a pass for the last couple of years.  Because I can tell you...I hadn't been too worried about my weight since then. So.  I had a picture taken of me on August 17th.  As ...
