Preparing

I don't write on here much anymore.  I remember when my kids were smaller and I'd read how "busy" mom's were and I even critiqued them...."I won't do that".... HA!  It seriously just happens and it's crazy, it's maddening, it's annoying and it's joyful, it's fun, it's amazing!  When we're in school/sports mode...we run every night of the week. It's seriously the best times.  By the end of the "season" you're READY for a break but I always look back with the best memories.

We have a dry erase calendar in our utility room, right by our back door.  We all walk by it many times a day.
As the days pass, we add to in color codes.  Dr.'s appointment, school needs, Michael's meetings....it's usually every color of the rainbow by the time I erase it.  I've had a very REAL need to get a hold of our schedules.  I have 57 days until surgery.

57 days.  Tomorrow is 56.

Major surgery is not always in a persons life.  Some can grow nice and old and never enter into a MAJOR surgery.  I've had many day procedures.  2 pretty good surgeries (gallbladder and hysterectomy).  But in 57 days, I'm entering into a whole new realm of surgery.

I've talked about it often and asked for prayers, but, it was brought to my attention that I've really never shared EXACTLY what is happening.

I know there's a very "technical" term but...I'm having my jaws broken and reset.  I'll have 8 L shaped plates and 16 screws placed in my upper and lower.  My palate and chin will be manipulated.  It will be an 8 hour surgery.  I'll be in the hospital a minimum of a day barring no complications.  I'll be 6 weeks bound closed, 3 will be with a splint.  Liquid diet through a straw.

Those that have paid attention....I have pretty substantial anxiety and panic attacks.  Trust me when I say, this has pushed those things to a whole new level.

I had said to me, "you cannot live for October 21st, you'll miss everything until then".  When I first heard it, I thought, but I have to mentally get myself to that day.  But by constantly working myself up, I'm only living in that day and missing everything else.  So, I vowed not to do that.

I've had some big works happening in my heart this summer but especially in the past few weeks.  I've been pushed beyond what I felt capable of, making excuses the whole time, but always coming out on the other side.  I wish I would quit doubting my inner Wonder Woman.

So my goal in these 57 days....well those blogs are to come ;)

I will ask for prayer.  Prayers for peace.  Prayers for my surgeons.  Prayers for Michael.  Prayers for Brody & Raina.

I see more blogs coming.  I love my blog and writing has always been therapeutic.  Stay tuned....some may be complete meltdowns, some may be daily "I made it through" victories.  You just never know what I might bring....welcome to what I call my life! :)

Goals for 2020

So after thinking through this for a while, I've decided to bring this back into my life.  I love to write, I love to express myself and share recipes.  SO...this blog may not always look pretty...it might get messy, because that's life, and I'm too old to pretend it's not.   Goals for 2020: To continue to search for what feeds my soul and not harms it. I'm going to keep up with my health goals and make it another year of weight maintenance.  Walking starts again.  Not about needing to lose, I like everything a bit tighter.  So there you go.  I'm not athletic, I do not LIKE working out.  But I do like walking because of the moment to take a breath and enjoy being outside and listening to good music 💓 I wanted to commit to living my truth...if I say be kind...that means I have to drop some guards and also do just that.  There's been a couple relationships over the years that I wanted to circle back to this year.  Both hav...

Award Winning Salsa

Well…it won an award in my family 🤣 This blog has seen MANY salsa recipes. I LOVE salsa. I’m always trying to perfect my recipe so I tried some different things yesterday and BAM….I mean wowza BAM!!!! Jayme’s Award Winning 😉 Salsa 2lbs Tomatillo, husked and washed and halved 2 Jalapeño, washed, halved, seeded if you’re a wuss.  1 Serrano, washed, remove stem 1 red onion, quartered 1 Lg Tomato 1 Bunch Cilantro 2 Tbs minced garlic  Salt  On a large baking sheet lay out your tomatillos, peppers and onion. Cover the bottom of the pan Chicken stock or water. I also drizzled a little olive oil.  Put in a 350 oven for 75-90 minutes.  Let cool down a bit and throw everything in a food processor.  Holy. Moly. Very restaurant like. Maybe a Cantina Laredo or Haciendas Ranch feel to it. So. Good.  I like it warm so when I go to get it out of the fridge, I just throw in the microwave for a sec.  SO good!

Perpetual diets and a soul change....

I feel like all my life, I've been on a perpetual diet.  Seriously.  Pretty much every day of my life has been a choice.  Some days/months/years I do great.  Others....not so much. I've never been one of those girls.  You know...the ones that always just pulled it off.  Looks, weight, clothes.  Nope.  That is not me.  I've also always had skinny friends.  They ate the same things as me...but I'd notice on me and never on them.  I think I've always aspired in some way to be each of them.  Hell, maybe they keep me in check so I don't ever let myself go to much?  That's some deep thinking stuff! What a funny life.  Then, I had my jaw surgery.  Long recovery.  Long, hard, painful recovery.  I think I just gave myself a pass for the last couple of years.  Because I can tell you...I hadn't been too worried about my weight since then. So.  I had a picture taken of me on August 17th.  As ...
