No diggity

Well first of all - holy cow was yesterday a strange weather day. Overcast and then sunny and then POURING! We had a TON of rain all at once last night, lots of lightening but for the most part it was just a nice strong storm that was over before it began.

I have been on a search for the tumbler cups with Lightening McQueen and Ariel in the bottom. Walgreens originally had them, Wal-Mart had them and then the well went dry. Got word yesterday that the pot of gold was at none other than The Disney Store...who would have thunk it (VERY sarcastic there).I decided to let the kids play in the play area a while and they were doing great, having a BLAST! I took the opportunity to have a moment to just sit and relax. Brody is very good at engaging other kiddos to play. 2 little boys walked in with their Mom who was VERY pregnant, VERY moody looking and VERY unapproachable. :S Of the 2 boys, 1 was my kids age, the other older. Brody was having a blast with the younger one and well...big brother didn't like it. He yelled at Brody to "go away" and "go home". Well Brody doesn't understand the full extent of that and keeps running around with the younger one. Again, loudly, the older one yells at Brody to "go home!" In true Brody style - he decides to yell back "AAAAAA" in his face even louder. Brody was having SUCH a good time - he was just having fun, being loud and being a total boy! The Mom was doing nothing about it, like I said - she looked mad at the world that she was pregnant so I gathered the kiddos and we rode the elevator up to get some juice boxes at Chick Fil'A. I was amazed that for once I had no arguments to leave...they'd played about an hour and both were tired!

I met Mom and Dad for dinner at TGI Friday's because Michael had a late night of P&Z in McKinney. I was telling Mom all about the beach stuff in Ariel and Lightening McQueen stuff and she decided we were going back. She ended up getting them both beach towels, bathing suits, cover ups and sandals for their "birthday" but also for our Destin trip. They're good to go! On the way out we pass a shoe store and we both eye the CUTEST sandals. She goes in, gets the red patent for herself and gets me the black patent for my "birthday"...in June...and gives them to me now for our trip. HA HA! Love that girl :)

Michael got home about 9. Got the kids down because they haven't seen Daddy all day - bed time what? But finally we did and watched the weather closely while doing our DVR for The Biggest Loser. Michael and I LOVE the Biggest Loser. We attribute our weight loss to the program and the cook books. We've watched it for MANY seasons now and take it very seriously.

I don't know at what specific point it was in the show - but I got up during and went to my computer. I started writing my Dad a long letter. I'd cry, walk away, think of more - come back, write more, cry, walk away. I don't know that I've ever said to him, "Daddy I want you to lose weight and here's why"....so that's what my letter said. It ended up being 2 pages long. I stayed up until about 1:00 just making sure it was coming across the way I needed it to.

So I printed it out and asked Mom to give it to him. I know it's not going to change the world, but maybe he'll become more aware of my concerns? We'll see.

So with that - he joined us golfing this past Saturday (you know the windiest day EVER) and as usual - he whooped up on us and we had a great time.

why hello there :)

yes - those would be Geese at my tee box.
I grazed the head of 1 of them - I told them to move!

AND...because the ending is just NICE to hear ;)

well Michael made the tee time around Mimi's babysitting time - ha ha! It usually happens that way, tee time, sitter arrangements and then "oh what's the weather say?" ;)

Goals for 2020

So after thinking through this for a while, I've decided to bring this back into my life.  I love to write, I love to express myself and share recipes.  SO...this blog may not always look pretty...it might get messy, because that's life, and I'm too old to pretend it's not.   Goals for 2020: To continue to search for what feeds my soul and not harms it. I'm going to keep up with my health goals and make it another year of weight maintenance.  Walking starts again.  Not about needing to lose, I like everything a bit tighter.  So there you go.  I'm not athletic, I do not LIKE working out.  But I do like walking because of the moment to take a breath and enjoy being outside and listening to good music 💓 I wanted to commit to living my truth...if I say be kind...that means I have to drop some guards and also do just that.  There's been a couple relationships over the years that I wanted to circle back to this year.  Both hav...

Award Winning Salsa

Well…it won an award in my family 🤣 This blog has seen MANY salsa recipes. I LOVE salsa. I’m always trying to perfect my recipe so I tried some different things yesterday and BAM….I mean wowza BAM!!!! Jayme’s Award Winning 😉 Salsa 2lbs Tomatillo, husked and washed and halved 2 Jalapeño, washed, halved, seeded if you’re a wuss.  1 Serrano, washed, remove stem 1 red onion, quartered 1 Lg Tomato 1 Bunch Cilantro 2 Tbs minced garlic  Salt  On a large baking sheet lay out your tomatillos, peppers and onion. Cover the bottom of the pan Chicken stock or water. I also drizzled a little olive oil.  Put in a 350 oven for 75-90 minutes.  Let cool down a bit and throw everything in a food processor.  Holy. Moly. Very restaurant like. Maybe a Cantina Laredo or Haciendas Ranch feel to it. So. Good.  I like it warm so when I go to get it out of the fridge, I just throw in the microwave for a sec.  SO good!

Perpetual diets and a soul change....

I feel like all my life, I've been on a perpetual diet.  Seriously.  Pretty much every day of my life has been a choice.  Some days/months/years I do great.  Others....not so much. I've never been one of those girls.  You know...the ones that always just pulled it off.  Looks, weight, clothes.  Nope.  That is not me.  I've also always had skinny friends.  They ate the same things as me...but I'd notice on me and never on them.  I think I've always aspired in some way to be each of them.  Hell, maybe they keep me in check so I don't ever let myself go to much?  That's some deep thinking stuff! What a funny life.  Then, I had my jaw surgery.  Long recovery.  Long, hard, painful recovery.  I think I just gave myself a pass for the last couple of years.  Because I can tell you...I hadn't been too worried about my weight since then. So.  I had a picture taken of me on August 17th.  As ...
