SO - I watch Big Love every Sunday. LOVE Big Love. I DVR it, and am faithful to it. I didn't get to watch this week until tonight though...so hence why I'm just now writing.
I have an interest in the subject of Polygamy. I'm NOT interested in BEING a polygamist but the whole thing just fascinates me. I've ready books, watched the biographies on it and I absolutely love Big Love.
I could never do it - I think it's very cruel and mean - hurtful....selfish but it still interests me to hear stories on it.
Alright...so Big Love...the wife is from the Mormon church...joins into this life with her husband...2 wives later all heck is breaking lose, the church finds out her absence from the church and puts her under board. She goes to the temple with her Mom and sister (who ratted her out) and has to get "admittance" into a white room and they have to wear ceremonial stuff...which I find...different but to each religion it's own. I respected the Mother getting emotional feeling that's what it would be like in eternity with eachother...all religions have their views of Heaven. I don't see it that way but I respect that a mother would WANT eternity with her family and believes it's so any way they interpret it. BUT...
Barb gets called into a room with 2 men...mortal men...she's put under review and asked to repent her lifestyle. A lifestyle that was in fact practiced in the early days of that religion SO in a way, she doesn't believe it's wrong. She stands her ground and 2 men tell her...her place in Eternity....is no more. Her name and her heritage and her WHOLE life and life thereafter is now erased by God and she is banished to a world of darkness.
WHAT THE HECK IS THAT?! Are you serious?! I was SO upset and I'm not kidding - snot bubbles, couldn't even talk - over this. Can you imagine being told - you are not his child anymore - no matter what you do because you did "this"?! First of all - how scary is that? Second...how cruel to teach that but to believe it or to do to someone is just incredible. The Bible CLEARLY says once you are his, once you have him in your heart he's there forever. How could anyone ever take that away - it's not theirs to take. How could anyone ever make you believe it is that way. AAAAA!!!
AND....I know....all religions believe all sorts of things and practice all sorts of things and I KNOW that not only Baptist will be in Heaven. But it's pretty clear in black and white what the Bible says. Kinda hard to not see it. I don't understand how it is SO misinterpreted and twisted. AND...by everyone...I understand that also.
Ugh...it was just mean and hurtful and I just sat there thinking - if someone told me today, you said a cuss word today, your eternal life in heaven is no more. Oh my gosh. I know that's like a small scale against polygamy BUT STILL no sin is greater than any other sin.
Ok...I'm done. It really hurt me and bothered me....I knew I wouldn't sleep until I found a way to get it out.

I agree with you that God loves us all and forgives our sins, whatever they may be. So it's not for those guys to judge her, but apparently it matters in her religion. (Which I realize is on a TV show, but I'm sure based on some truths also.)
I thought the white room scene was a dream until she started crying...
